Main level and basement windows can be damaged by mineral deposits left after water evaporates off of glass. The amount of damage and cost of removal vary on the stage of corrosion. Although we can restore most any piece of glass, prevention is the key to saving money. We recommend secondary water for irrigation when possible. Culinary water is not only much more expensive but, leaves more stubborn mineral stains on glass. Keeping water away from buildings not only protects glass but can also prevent water damage in basements. Anyone who has had a sprinkler line break and had to deal with water in their home can attest to that. Exterior glass should also be protected from trees and overgrowth. This helps the surface remain cleaner and also prevents damage, saving money on regular cleanings or possible window replacement.

The products we use to clean exterior glass are specifically formulated for that purpose. Consumers are unaware that most window cleaning professionals save money by substituting everyday soap such as dish detergent for professional products. These soaps can be somewhat effective in cleaning, however are also effective in attracting dirt. The Glass Association of North America (GANA) recommends using only “commercial window cleaning solution” on glass.  It would be unacceptable for your carpet cleaner to use the wrong product and leave behind soap to attract the dirt; why then would any consumer allow a window cleaning service to do the same? In addition to using the right product for the job, protecting glass can also be done by treating it with different types of sealants. We are happy to review several options with you upon your request.

The frequency of interior window cleaning is affected by much more than just fingerprints and cobwebs. The air quality of air in your home can also be a major factor.  It is possible to improve air quality and decrease the frequency of needed cleanings. Always keep filters in place and replace them often to prevent airborne dust. Ceiling Fans should be in use to remove steam in bathrooms and hood or range fans always need to run on high to extract grease and smoke in residential and commercial kitchens. Having window screens clean and in good condition, closing windows when it is windy, and any other action that can decrease unwanted particles in the air will make a noticeable difference in the level of build up on interior glass.

The products we use to clean interior glass promote an anti-static environment on the surface of the glass.  If you are using another window cleaning service always request an anti- static solution be used. A neutral cleaner made specifically for glass will help interior windows stay clean longer by reducing the attraction of air pollution onto glass. Some of the products we use are pictured below.
